Episode 10 wraps
We have wrapped shooting on episode 10, that’s the end of our regular season. We have one episode left to shoot and it’s a bonus episode. We’re shooting it on Labor Day.
Shooting this episode was a bit challenging, we had something major go wrong, and we only got two scenes.
The major thing that went wrong was on Friday. A switch somehow got flipped on the wide angle camera that covers me and as a result we had no audio for my mic or the shotgun mic. The good news is that the standard zoom camera that followed Jeremy was still rolling and captured all of his audio and even some of mine.
I’ve decided to focus the first scene on Jeremy’s POV, because we have all of his audio, and it’ll be a nice change from the 50/50 split I normally have with the co-host.
The first scene where we focused on Jeremy had zero tape up. So we didn’t have a great visual.
Day two went much better. We went to a scene on the south side. We drove by, only seeing cop cars and no tape, and we were skeptical of getting out, but Patrick convinced us to drive by one more time and I parked and said we’re getting out to interview witnesses. While we were trying and failing to get people to talk, a cop approached us and said he would be putting up tape soon. That was a relief for all of us, we sprayed the scene and were on our way.
Some non-show news: I purchased a ton of equipment necessary for hurricane season, made some decisions about which items from my current equipment will be joining the hunt, and figured out that we’re going to use riverside.com to record our briefings with the meteorologist. My hurricane coverage is going to be a bit different from the crime stuff because we will hopefully have a one day turnaround. We want to shoot all day and then at night transmit the footage to the editor and have him work all night so that it can be ready to post at 9 a.m. the next morning.
